Chelsea FC History
Seed of foundation at Rising Sun Pub
The foundation seed for this Football Club was laid in the Rising Sun Pub (the Butcher’s Hook) in 1905. True to its founding place, the club proved to be a rising sun always by filling their kitty with many wins. The club’s origin doesn’t go along with its location and is located in Fulham instead of Chelsea.
Unique Foundation
Whilst, the club is a normal norm to form a club and then hunt for a suitable ground, Chelsea has a record the opposite way. When the Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea was offered to Fulham but turned to be futile, the rejection didn’t go well with the owners. But they were not to be stopped and tried to give the club a different shape i.e. instead of asking others to take the club on lease they decided to form their own club and thus Chelsea took birth with a secured home of its own.
Home, Steady and Sweet Home
From its foundation till date, Chelsea has made Stamford Bridge as its one and only home without any change and shift.
Frequent change of Crest
Change was for sure, if not on the Stadium aspect, it was on the Crest aspect. So far there have been four major changes with many minor ones. The first Crest was the Chelsea Pensioner that was static for about half a century. By 1952, the club was replaced by a temporary initials i.e. C.F.C. In 1953 this was again changed to a blue lion standing upright with a backward look and was holding a staff. This was the one that lasted for long i.e. about three decades. This again was changed to a yellow lion standing on the initials of C.F.C. Though this lasted for about 19 years the previous blue lion crest had set a long lasting impression on the fans and on popular demand the same was restored again in 2005 and continues to be the crest even today.
First major success
The club claimed its first major victory after winning the League Championship.
Height of Success
The last decade was the peak time of success for the club as they won the Premier League three times in 2005, 2006 and 2010.
